The Lord Jesus once said to His disciples that they preached the gospel for the Lord “as sheep in the middle of wolves ” (Mat 10:16). We know that the disciples were subjected to different levels of persecution: beaten, cursed, arrested, stoned or even killed. The Bible says, “And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (Jhn 1:5). “ The whole world lies in wickedness ” (1Jn 5:19). Demons hate people to return before God. They oppose God, hate the truth, hate the Lord Jesus, so they hate His disciples. Hence, since ancient times, nothing goes smoothly when people preach the gospel. Even so, Jesus told us: “ But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak. For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you ” (Mat 10:19-20). In tribulation, we are not alone. Because God is with us, we can certainly complete His mission. Now, in the course of spreading the gospel, we also suffer different levels of persecution: ridiculous, threat or torture. But the Lord said to us: “And fear not them which kill the body.” Only God is possessed of authority. Everything of us is in His hands. In tribulations, those who persecute us cannot destroy our souls but harm our bodies at most, because our souls are controlled by God. Without God’s permission, no one can take our lives.
